Stitch Simulator

Drag to rotate the cloth, set the stitch length and tension, and see the seam build up — including what happens when the tension is wrong.

Educational simulation

Results are computed from idealised geometry. Real fabric, thread and machines have tolerances and wear, so treat the figures as a guide and always follow the specification on the part.

This tool needs WebGL

This device reports no WebGL support, so the interactive model cannot run. The reference figures below are the same ones the model computes.

Procedure

  1. Choose a stitch type
  2. Set the stitch length
  3. Set the upper and bobbin tension
  4. Sew along the guide line
  5. Check the seam and the pucker

Export

5 steps. Exports are generated in your browser from the current model.

Stitch Simulator

Build a seam on a parametric piece of cloth. Choose the stitch, set the stitch length and tension, and watch the seam form and the cloth react.

What it models

  • Choose a stitch type
  • Set the stitch length
  • Set the upper and bobbin tension
  • Sew along the guide line
  • Check the seam and the pucker

What you can export

  • A seam diagram as PNG
  • The stitch figures as CSV

Exports are produced in the browser from the current model state. Nothing is uploaded.

Degradation

Without WebGL this page shows a static reference panel carrying the same figures and the same procedure. On a narrow screen the 3D model is offered rather than loaded automatically, so a phone on a slow connection is not forced to download it.
