About
Bespoke & Thread is a reference for people who sew: the tools, the numbers and the techniques, written down so they can be checked rather than remembered.
What this is
A library of tailoring and sewing reference material. Each tool has a page describing what it does, how it is measured and what it is safe for; each technique has a guide; and four of the more visual ideas — stitch formation, pattern drafting, tension and drape — have an interactive 3D model you can change the parameters on.
What this is not
It is not a shop, and nothing on the site is for sale. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no advertising. Where a community answer is quoted, the platform it came from is named and linked, and the answer is shortened and paraphrased rather than copied.
How the figures are produced
The calculators and the 3D tools share one set of formulas, so a stitch length suggested by the calculator is the same stitch length the simulator draws. The models are idealised: real fabric, thread and machines have tolerances that no model knows about, so treat every number as a starting point to test from.
Safety
Sewing involves sharp needles, sharp blades and hot irons. Every tool page that involves one of those carries a safety note, and the footer carries the general notice. None of it is a substitute for the instructions supplied with your own equipment.
